LED Lighting
The potential to reduce the power consumption of lighting by around 75% – 80% will be of high interest when proposing any energy saving priority. It could be that payback periods are a little long for management, but when taken in conjunction with the above priority and an overall lighting strategy, the potential savings and reduced paybacks make LEDs in this priority well worth the consideration.
Ideal Uses for LEDs
- Hard-to-reach places
- Office lighting and packing areas

Retrofit LED Lighting
Fitting LEDs previously required lots of wiring and soldering, but now many retrofit bulbs offer ‘plug and play’ like functionality and just require the bulb to be swapped.
- LED Retrofit bulbs fit into existing fittings
- They’re almost identical in size and shape of standard light bulbs
- Unlike compact fluorescent bulbs, they don’t contain mercury so can be safely disposed of
Benefits
- Full brightness reached almost instantly
- No UV radiation and relatively little heat
- LEDs can provide over 80% savings on lighting costs
- LED Retrofit bulbs typically consume only a few watts of power
- Projected to produce a long service life of 10,000 – 50,000 hours
- Featuring no filament that can be damaged from shock and vibrations
