Free Solar Panels
Solar PV Funding
Did you know there are government incentives and solar panel funding to help you install a new solar panel system without having to pay anything upfront?
This means you could start seeing the savings on your energy bills straightaway without any outlay. You will then generate an income for creating your own renewable energy. In order to qualify: you must be a homeowner in full-time employment (working 16 hours minimum per week, on a permanent contract). Your roof must also have enough un-shaded space, facing South, SE, SW or East & West. Qualify for PSP Scheme Submit your Application by completing the form on this page. We will have to verify your details. Free Home Survey We will arrange one of our Solar Assessors to carry out a free home survey. Book Install Date Once your application has been successful and your home is suitable, we will then install. Grants from the government The government does not technically offer grants for solar panels, instead it pays you for the energy you produce. This is called the Feed-in Tariff (FiT). What is the Feed-in Tariff? The Feed-in Tariff rewards homeowners who install solar panels. The government pays you 13.8p for every kWh of energy your panel generates. You get paid for both the energy you use (the generation tariff) and the energy you don’t use (the export tariff).Your energy bills will also drop significantly, because when your panels are in use your electricity is free. The money you receive is tax free and payments will rise in line with inflation. The scheme applies for 20 years and you can expect a good return on your investment. Typically you look to earn and save £13,900 over 20 years. The future of the FiT scheme The government is rumoured to be considering the future of the FiT as experts are now suggesting that solar pays for itself with a combination of low installation costs and high energy bill savings. If you are thinking of installing solar panels, you will want to do it sooner rather than later whilst you can still receive the generous tariff payments from the government. The FiT rate gets updated every three months with around a six month notice period on any changes. Once you register your panels, you ‘lock-in’ your guaranteed payments for the next 20 years regardless of what happens to the FiT in the future. Can I get free solar panels? If you want to lower your energy bills and carbon footprint but can’t afford to buy a solar panel, you can get them installed for free. However, you will not get any of the money from the Feed-in tariff. This goes to the company who owns the solar panel. You simply get the use of the free clean energy the panel produces. Essentially you are renting your roof space to the solar company, who will maintain and service the panel for you. Do I qualify for free panels? As the cost of solar has plummeted the government has reduced the Feed-in Tariff. Cheaper solar panels have allowed many more homeowners in the UK to invest in their own solar system. However the lower FiT has resulted in less installers offering free panels. You will need to have a south facing roof angled between 10 and 60 degrees to stand any chance of qualifying for free solar panels. What will I save? This will depend on the size of the installation installed and how you use energy. If you are very energy efficient, you should be able to save about £150 a year.It is also important to remember that it is very likely energy prices will continue to rise, so you should save more and more each year. Over 20 years the money you save should be considerable.
Is it worth it?Free solar panels will help you lower your energy bills and it is a great way to do it if you can’t afford to buy your own solar panel.
However, the real money comes from investing in your own panel. Though the FiT has dropped so has the cost of solar panels, so the return on investment is still significant.
Under a Government initiative, called the Clean Energy Cashback Scheme, the investors will be paid for all the electricity the panels generate, regardless of whether the electricity is used or not. They are not just paid for the surplus electricity that is fed back into the grid they are paid for ALL of the electricity generated – this is called a Generation Tariff, which is paid to them by the Power Companies. The FIT income for every installation is guaranteed by legislation for 20 years and will eventually pay back their initial investment and provide them with a handsome profit. Accordingly, we are able to fit free solar panels onto any roof that is suitable and let the homeowner use all the electricity that is generated entirely free of charge.
